The end of the year is almost upon us, and what a year it has been! Like us, you may be taking a break to recharge ahead of the new year. But, as with physical premises, there are a few steps you need to take with your eCommerce Business before you shut up shop. So here are five things to do so you can rest easy.
This is quick and easy to set up in WooCommerce. You can include any information you need to share about your eCommerce Business, such as seasonal opening hours, reminders of last posting dates or special offers. Below is a handy video to take you through step by step.
Update any external pages you have for your eCommerce Business with your opening times, such as your Google business listing and social media business pages. You can even pin posts to ensure they stay at the top of your page, making it easier for visitors to see.
This is an excellent opportunity to thank your customers for their support over the year and update them on any changes in opening hours for your eCommerce Business, ways to get in touch and any other information you wish to share. We use Mailchimp, but other platforms are also available.
Just in case the worst does happen whilst you are off, it’s important to complete a back up to enable your eCommerce Business website to be reinstalled to the most recent version, so all is not lost. Updating your website with new releases can also ensure it is at its most secure. Top tip: don’t leave this as the last thing you do, as things can sometimes go awry. Your website support company can take care of this for you.
You’re all done. Pour yourself a cup of tea or other drink of your choice and grab a treat (we’re particularly partial to a mince pie at Rigorous Digital HQ). It is time to relax and unwind. Have a wonderful Christmas, and here’s to a happy and healthy 2024!
Although we take a two-week break at Christmas, our 24/7 support plans continue to run throughout. Find out more about our range of plans and how these could support your eCommerce Business.
